Faces of Gastronomy – Berlin

Faces of Gastronomy
First edition

FACES of GASTRONOMY – BERLIN is a declaration of love to the people who make Berlin so vibrant, culinary diverse and exciting with their visions. Personal insights embodied in images and stories – sometimes from a surprisingly new angle.

Faces of Gastronomy takes its readers on a journey through the capital’s vibrant culinary  scene. Focussing on the people behind the plates, it showcases the unique world of Berlin’s gastronomic protagonists who are just as diverse as the city itself. (And we’re proud to say we are featured in it, too!) The book pairs expressive pictures by two Berlin natives with the refreshing observations of a writer whose style is deliberately hard to classify. This is contemporary culinary history on 416 pages full of passion and dedication.
In addition, the book is 100% made in Berlin: the photographers are original Berliners while the writer has made Berlin his home; the book was designed by a Berlin agency and is manufactured locally. That might be a little more expensive than shifting production abroad, but it’s worth it all the same.

Faces of Gastronomy
Faces of Gastronomy is Hinnerk Clausen, Melanie Greim and Robert Schlesinger. The three did not actually know each other when they embarked on their joint book project, but quickly connected over their enthusiasm and appreciation for the world of gastronomy in Berlin and beyond. Of course, it helps that their diverse skill sets complement each other, too. In a way, the origin story of the team is emblematic of what Berlin itself is all about: people who are united by their visions and values, brought together by chance or circumstance, who then forge their very own path, creating weird and wonderful things along the way.
