Pipachá organic oolong tea
Description
PIPACHÁ marks the merging of two worlds: tea and Niepoort port wine, which spends decades maturing in wooden barrels also known as pipes. For this very special tea, Nina and Dirk have selected a semi-oxidized organic oolong tea, whose complex flavour profile boasts notes of dried fruits and delicate tannins. This is stored in port wine pipes for six months so that over time, the tea absorbs some of the port wine’s flavours. This technique is often used for jasmine tea and opens up radically new tasting dimensions for oolong tea!
Tasting notes: Flavour of dried fruits and honey with an elegant portwine nose and finish, little caffeine.
When stored dry and cool, the teas can easily be kept for 2-3 years without loss of taste or quality.
5g to 200ml of 90C water. Steep for 3 minutes. Up to 2 infusions are recommended. Let the second infusion steep for 3 minutes as well.
Since tea comes in all shapes and sizes it is quite difficult to give you a measurement in tea- or tablespoons. So, if you are serious about tea or would like to be, we recommend investing in a little scale that is able to measure 0.1g. A fancy water boiler with temperature control is gonna make your tea brewing set complete.
Some advice about the water used for brewing tea:
The quality of water is decisive for a good cup of tea! Tap water is rarely suitable, as it is often too hard and contains chlorine and too many minerals. It is advisable to use soft water, filtered or bottled in the preparations of tea.
